When first I came to Weipa
Folks took me aside
They said ‘We’ll get it out in the open
Let’s have nothing to hide’

They said ‘You wanna make a fool of yourself
People here gonna let ya
Go anywhere in Weipa, just
Hope the crocs don’t get ya’

And the belts they keep on a-rollin’
And that bauxite keeps on a-loadin’
And everybody loves it in Weipa
If the crocs don’t get ya

At ten a.m. each morning
Down one end of town
A croc comes up the mud flats
Just to nosey-poke around

The locals pay no heed at all
But if you’re a beginner
Wrong place, wrong time, my friend
And you’re a salty’s dinner

And the belts they keep on a-rollin’
And that bauxite keeps on a-loadin’
And everybody loves it in Weipa
If the crocs don’t get ya

Now the annual town triathlon
The swim and bike and run
Well the swim is through the billabong
Just for added fun

Well down at race headquarters
Someone’s mind was working
They know that in that billabong
A croc or two is lurking

And the belts they keep on a-rollin’
And that bauxite keep on a-loadin’
And everybody loves it in Weipa
If the crocs don’t get ya
