well they talk about this country and
they call it the wide brown land
talk about the Red Heart and
the colour of the sand
but it’s down among the green hills,
is where I’ve made my stand
and I’ve been from Stratford to Yarram and all the way back again
2.
well the Valleys of the King and Ovens
are near to paradise
like tieing up your houseboat
on a riverbank at night
but the hills and vales of Gippsland
are something to be seen
and I’ve been from Stratford to Yarram and all points in between
3.
she was a teacher in Trafalgar
and she shared her precious kiss
even to this day I sit
and wonder what I’ve missed
but if all they are is memories
then I have lots of them
and I’ve been from Stratford to Yarram and all the way back again
BR.
But the beauty of the Western side is not to be denied
And the Highway down to Hamilton is a fine one to ride
Skipton ‘cross to Simpson and on down to the sea
Camperdown to Coleraine, they’ve all been kind to me
4.
and if you go up to the Alps
then go when the skiing’s done
there’s not so many people and
you’ll like it in the sun
and should you go through Omeo
then say hello for me
then again, maybe we should just let that be
5.
well there’s many a place to call home
and many a road to roam
sometimes you’re among friends
and other times alone
but it’s the people that you meet
that sustain you in the end
and from Stratford to Yarram, well I’ve made a few good friends
