I heard you’d been back in our hometown
friends said you’d even asked of me
I would have loved to meet again, but then
maybe best let sleeping memories be

2.
no use losin’ time on fantasy
or raking over ancient history
you’re the one that got away, my friend
but I’d be happy if you’d sometimes think of me

3.
are you ever in your other world
haunted by a fading memory?
though there’s years and miles between us now
I wonder if you sometimes think of me
BR.
You and I have built our lives elsewhere
But do you still have your flowing brown hair?

4.
summer fades and spring’s a distant dream
I stroll among the fallen leaves
I’m just pleased if life has blessed you well
And I’d be happy if you’d sometimes think of me
